07/20/2004 Entry: "Christine's health so far..."
Well, the news is slightly better. In the last few hours, preliminary tests of her heart show no signs of damage, but it's still too early to tell for sure. But they are seeing severe swelling of the lymph nodes, and now in addition to the cardiologist, they are sending in a lung specialist. Calling or visiting her is pretty useless since she's constantly being whisked away for testing. She got very little sleep last night, and had been through a lot of tests.

Holy Crap, Punkie! I was going to write at your blog about Fran, but I hopped onto your blog to find Christine in the hospital. Damn. If venting on your blog helps your thoughts slow down in the midst of this, by all means keep doing it. If you have any chance to visit her soon in the hospital, maybe you could get her a mini-care package of foam earplugs and one of those sleep-mask things. It has been over 20 years since I last slept over in a hospital, and I remember how they seem to be specifically designed to make restful sleep impossible. I'd imagine especially in the case of heart troubles, being able to chill out enough to get really deep sleep would help a lot.
