03/12/2004 Entry: "I would like to thank the following people..."
If it hadn't been for the following people, I wouldn't have ever discovered the following themes in my life: Thank you Neal, for The Beatles, Broadway and screen musicals, Simon and Garfunkel, Justin Wilson, the desire to draw, and half my sense of humor. Thanks to Jason for Firesign Theater, Dr. Who, magicians tricks, and rekindling my love for computers. A great thanks to Kate, who taught me Anime, forgiving punk rock, Japanese culture, how to use chopsticks, dogs (esp. Pekingese), and generally helping me survive high school. No reason. Just thought of them today. Sometimes it's weird to trace steps in your life to try and find out how you got where you are today. Like, in all honesty, I like my job. I program and build computers which is so awesome, I even do it in my spare time. How did I get here? Well, I was promoted here from an International Node Testing job, which I got promoted from an International Help Desk, which I got through my friend Sean, because he worked with me at a previous job with an ISP. I knew Sean from the early Prune Bran days, which I got into through fandom. I got the job at the ISP from retail because of Suzi, whom also illustrated my book, whom I got to know also through fandom. She lived at the FanTek house when I met her, and I lived at the FanTek house a few years before her. I lived at the FanTek house because I got to know Bruce and Cheryl back at EveCon 4, which I went to because I was guest artist. I got to be guest artist because I went to EveCon 2, and kept getting the Castle Magazine, who begged for art, and I sent it, and they loved me. I went to EveCon 2 because I was with the Science Fiction Club in high school, which I got to know because were shared members with the drama club. I was in drama club because I thought I was going to take a life of theater. I thought that because I took choir in 6th grade, but my singing was so bad, the music teacher put me into the play. I took choir because she was a new teacher, trying to improve our existing choir. So, in theory, if it hadn't have been for my 6th grade music teacher, Mrs. Eisley, I wouldn't be here today. My love of tech, which I traced back to my mother giving me Legos when I was 4, has merged with this thread, although "troubleshooting and helping people" was born in the years I spent as an A/V Nerd.
